Conductor Christopher Zimmerman makes his Orkney Springs debut with the Fairfax Symphony Orchestra with a program that will take you on an exhilarating journey through the 20th century's post-romantic world. The program includes rich nationalistic dances from the Latin and Mediterranean cultures; Astor Piazzolla's "Sinfonietta," based on the tango and Manuel de Falla's "The Three-Cornered Hat" based on the flamenco. The program also includes Arthur Honegger's "Pastorale d'ete" that uses the inherent sensuous, exotic and jazz-like Parisian sounds of the French composers of the 1920s and 1930s.

Alon Goldstein will play Ravel's "Piano Concerto in G." He is one of the most sensitive artists of his generation, admired for his musical intelligence and dynamic personality. His artistic vision and innovative programming have made him a favorite with audiences and critics alike.
